GASP Science Program
"GASP! is an after school program for girls 3rd-5th grade at Linton, Laurel, and Harris Elementary. GASP! stands for "Girls Advancing Scientific Progress"and is conducted by female CSU student-scientists from the CSU Environmental Learning Center. We work with other teachers in Cape Verde Africa and Kenya to offer the program in 3 locations around the world! The aim of the program to have fun learning about science in the natural world while encouraging girls to see themselves as potential scientists, and to increase representation of women in sciences where they are typically underrepresented.
We conduct cool experiments and scientific investigations in order to learn about our environment, each other, and our world. In past semesters we have studied climate and weather patterns, how and why trees change through the seasons, the effects of colored stimuli on fish behavior, soil percolation, culturing bacteria, macro-invertebrates, tree rings, and the human body! We enjoy making scientific discoveries while making lasting friendships. Please visit our website for more information by clicking here
