History
Linton Elementary School opened fall 1989 and was named after Wayne and Shirley Linton. Wayne began his teaching career at Lincoln Junior High as a Math, Social Studies, English, Literature and Science teacher. Wayne also was a counselor, assistant principal and principal at Lincoln before opening Blevins Junior High as principal in 1968. Shirley began teaching in PSD in the fall of 1951 at LaPorte Elementary. After staying home to raise her children for several years, Shirley returned to teaching at Irish Elementary. She received the Distinguished Teachers Award in 1984 and honorable mention for Colorado Teacher of the Year in 1985.

Both were dedicated  and much-loved Fort Collins educators.

Learning culture
Linton is a caring, welcoming and dynamic place! Linton is designated as a Positive Behavior and Intervention Support (PBIS) school and actively reinforces our P.R.I.D.E. Code. Our school also values educating the "whole child" and provides full time specials, Gifted and Talented instruction, and a highly trained math and reading intervention team. AlphaBest provides a before and after school care option.
