What Mathletes Need to Know

Sample Problems

Does your Linton student think that math is ...

Too hard?
Something they will never use in real life?

Think again!

Math Olympiad at Linton is a very fun program that teaches kids to solve problems effectively!   Students of all math abilities with a positive attitude and willingness to work, participate, and learn will benefit from participation.   Students frequently do better in their other classes (not just math!) by applying what they learn in Math Olympiad.

A voluntary enrichment program (nationally coordinated)
An extra challenge in basic math skills
An opportunity to learn creative problem-solving approaches

Who can participate in Math Olympiad?

Any 4th or 5th grade student
3rd grade students with teacher recommendation
NOTE: Students must be interested in math and be willing to actively participate

How does it work?

Meet weekly (Wednesday afternoons from 3:00-3:45 in Mrs. Leerssen's 4th grade room)
Timed Tests monthly from November through March (each test is approximately 25 minutes long)
