January 23, 2024 PTO Meeting

Principal Report

● Preston Middle School is hosting a cyber safety education night

  • When: Tuesday, February 6, 2024
  • Where: Preston Middle School
    •     4901 Corbett Drive, Fort Collins, CO 
    • What Else: Light refreshments, Spanish translation provided, presentation for parents only, no childcare available.
    • Cost: Free

● PSD After 3 - Before/After School Clubs

  •  Free programs offered to students
  • Winter/Spring sign up forms were sent home. Clubs starting next week
  • Communication is done through the PSD After 3 program, not the school
  • Student Enrollment
  • Continues to drop district wide
  • Linton projection for 2024-2025 school year is at around 250 students.     

           This is very low for our school

○ There has been a Long Range Planning Committee formed of parents and staff members across the district. They, along with a hired firm will be reviewing student enrollment and schools across the district and provide feedback for possible plans moving forward.

● Start times for the 2024-2025 school year will likely be changing for Linton.

○ Two possible scenarios

■ 1. 9:05am start time

■ 2. 9:20am start time

○ This information was presented to board members at the meeting this week.

○ Keep an eye out for future board meetings for more information to come.

● A parent at Linton has partnered with a group from Safety Smarts and will hold a presentation on home gun safety.

○ Presentation focused on safety around storing guns in your home, and educating children about safety with guns in other homes.

○ This will be offered at Linton, more information to come soon.

● Hearts for Nursing Homes

○ We will again send home hearts for students to decorate and PTO will help deliver them to neighborhood nursing homes for Valentine’s Day

  • Fundraiser Prizes to come out
  • Teacher appreciation gifts

● Milk Caps

○ Continue to bring in your milk caps to help Linton!

○ High school students have been counting them for us, going well

● Box Tops

○ Download the box top app and select Linton as your school,

■ Remember to scan your receipts to earn money for our school!

● American Furniture Warehouse

○ If you purchase anything from AFW, please make sure to mention Linton! They donate a portion of the purchase to the school

● Family Dinner Night

○ Each out! April 15 at D.C. Oakes!

○ Funds from your purchase are donated back to the school

Parent Chair

● Fundraiser

○ Separating fundraiser from read-a-thon for this year

○ More information to come, and we need your help! Watch for a sign up genius to find ways to get involved!
